Kristin Slye (she/her)

Psychotherapist & Founder of Uncovery: LMFT (#131189); REAT (#2129), CIMHP

What do I do? Put very simply, I walk alongside others, primarily children and families, as they work to understand and overcome their struggles, like a mountain guide for the soul. A good guide works with others to navigate the unique terrain of their lives, plus acquire lifelong skills and knowledge.

I love what I do. There is no greater honor than offering guidance to my clients for whatever time they need. I can’t do the journey for you, but I can use my training and experience to help make the path a little easier, and hopefully more beautiful too.

Onto my credentials:

I received a B.S., summa cum laude, from the University of San Francisco in Organizational Behavior, a branch of study that looks at organizations through a psychological lens, as well as an M.A. in Counseling Psychology and Expressive Arts Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies.

I’m licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist, and I’m the only Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT) in the Sierra Nevada region. I’m also a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional (CIMHP), looking through a lens of holistic health in my work. In addition, I am certified in Social and Emotional Learning Through the Arts and Dance for All facilitation through UCLArts & Healing. In 2025, I became certified in Somatic Embodiment through Linda Thai’s Collectively Rooted program and graduated from Delta Gamma’s Dawson Leadership Institute.

I’ve been in practice since 2018 after a previous career as a brand strategist (and professional dancer before that). In addition to my private practice, I am currently the Clinical Supervisor for Sugar Bowl Academy. I started in school-based therapy, including several years working with the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District, serving children and adolescents experiencing significant mental health challenges, including depression, suicidality, self-harm, anxiety, and trauma responses. I also have a special focus on working with LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, including gender-affirming therapy.

I am the proud parent of Jake, an engineering student at UC Santa Cruz, and the spouse of Jeff, my partner of 26 years. I’m also an avid dancer, XC skier, snowboarder, reader, writer, and backpacker. When not at work, I can most often be found busting a move in dance class, or on the trail with my beloved rescue dog, Matty.

Memberships: California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA).
